Mole Valley

The Parliamentary constituency of Mole Valley was founded in 1983 but has only been its present form since 1997 when boundary changes excluded Ashtead and included five wards in the east of the Borough of Guildford.

Sir Paul Beresford, Parliamentary Candidate for Mole Valley

Sir Paul was first elected the Member of Parliament for Mole Valley in 1997. He has had an extensive and distinguished career in politics which dates back to 1978 when he was first elected as a Councillor for Wandsworth Council. Paul went on to lead Wandsworth Council and it was during this time that he was knighted for his services to inner city rehabilitation. Paul was then elected the Member of Parliament for Croydon Central in 1992, which he served for five years.

Sir Paul was a Minister for the Department of the Environment from 1994-1997 and has held various posts in Parliament; serving on the Education, Environment and Transport Select Committees at various times. More recently, he was appointed a Member of the Communities and Local Government Committee.

Paul was re-elected on December 12th 2019 to continue representing the residents of Mole Valley.
